Punjab: Girlfriend's mother murders youth

Faridkot, Sep 13: In case of honour killing in Punjab, an engineering student was allegedly murdered by his girlfriend's mother as she was against the relationship.

Gurtej, a student of Adesh Engineering College, had gone missing from his house on the night of August 26. The family alleged that they had received ransom calls demanding Rs 1 crore.

Following this, the victim's father lodged a complaint against the girl's family, alleging that he was abducted by them as they were against the affair.

Amandeep Kaur, the girl's mother has been arrested. During interrogation, she confessed to pushing Gurtej Singh into a canal as she was against her daughter's relationship with the youth.
