Greed for property: Youth rapes, murders 3-year-old cousin

Villupuram, Sept 13: In a shocking incident, a 22-year-old youth has been arrested in Tamil Nadu's Marakkanam village on the charges of kidnapping, raping and murdering his three-year-old cousin.

According to police sources, K Lakshimnarayanan alias Eli, a coolie, visited his uncle K Iyyanar's house at around 3pm on Sunday, Sept 12 in a drunken condition. He asked his aunt if he could take her daughter to a neighbourhood shop to buy balloons.

Following aunt's refusal, the youth asked his uncle only to be snubbed. Later, Eli saw the little girl playing near the house. He took her to a secluded spot, raped her and strangled her to death.

When the victim's family found the child missing, they approached the police and the police managed to nab him. He also confessed that he killed his uncle's only child to inherit his property.
