Call it Annagiri or Gandhigiri; govt officials offer roses

Dhanbad (Jharkhand), Sept 13: Anna supporters led by Indian Against Corruption on Tuesday (Today) offered roses and white caps to officials of coal town in Jharkhand with a request to root out the corruption from the state.

"Gandhi caps superscribed with 'I am Anna' and bunch of roses are being handed over to each officer with a request to help in remove the vice of corruption in his own way in the interest of the common man," IAC district coordinator Vijay Jha said.

He also said that IAC Dhanbad unit have been visiting every government department including Joint commissioner and deputy commissioner of sales tax, district Transport office, offices of assistant registrar, Block development officer (BDO) and circle officer (CO) almost every day.

"Call it Annagiri or Gandhigiri, We believe in this method where officials should spent their maximum time in office and should overtime to complete any pending work," Vijay added.

He also expressed his full support for full implementation of the 'Right to Service Act' passed by the Jharkhand Assembly recently.

"We welcome their gesture, we appreciate their move. It is not bad if the government officials sit up and take notice about their responsibility. I find nothing repulsive in being politely offered flowers and 'Anna Topi," said a senior official of Income tax department.
