Guj BJP to organise programmes against Lokayukta appointment

Ahmedabad, Sep 6: Taking the confrontation over appointment of Lokayukta by Gujarat Governor, bypassing the state government, to the streets, BJP today launched a campaign against the alleged politicisation of Governor's office by the Congress.

"We have decided to take this issue to the streets and have decided to organise various agitation programme for next 20 days at talukas, districts and major cities of the state," BJP spokesperson I K Jadeja said.

"We have given a slogan, ''save Gujarat, remove injustice'', and will organise rallies and public meetings against the appointment of Lokayukta at 250 places between September 14 and 18," Jadeja said.

Programmes like contacting people at their homes and offices to educate them on the issue, women rallies and public meetings would also be undertaken by the party, Jadeja added.

Gujarat Governor Kamla had last month appointed retired Justice R A Mehta as the Lokayukta of Gujarat, bypassing the state government.
