Karuna in land encroachment mess? To face legal music

Chennai, Sep 5: The AIADMK on Sep 5 charged the DMK Chief Karunanidhi over land enchroachment behind his Gopalpuram residence. It has also warned the DMK leader that he would have to face legal action.

According to Local administration minister K P Munusamy, the piece of land was a permament 780 square foot structure housing rest rooms for security guards,which was allotted to Karunanidhi in 1967 by way of a Corporation resolution.

Munnisamy said the land was assigned to Karunanidhi for Rs 3,250. However,on Karunanidhi's request in 1969,the allotment was cancelled and money was advised to be refunded.

"Despite the cancellation, it is still in possession of Karunanidhi. In 1978 he had requested reassigning the land but no decision was taken by Chennai corporation," he said.

"This land continues to be used by Karunanidhi and we will initiate all legal steps to retieve encroached land as well as those which will be detected," he said.

Recently, Karuna's son and former deputy CM, MK Stalin's close aide, KN Nehru's brother, KN Ramajayam and 10 other DMK men were accused in a land grab case. Stalin has also alleged the AIADMK govt since it seemed to take an oath to finish off his party.

On other hand, his daughter kanimozhi and grand nephew Dayanidhi Maran are numbering their days behind the bars over the charges of 2G spectrum. So, is this an unending battle between the AIADMK and DMK? Or the darkest phase that the DMK party is going through?
