UP: Raped Dalit girl attempts suicide, BSP man held

Barabanki, Sep 4: The accused BSP leader Aslam has been arrested finally by the Uttar Pradesh Police. Aslam molested a 16-year-old Dalit girl four days back, who set herself on fire.

The victim belongs to Sihali village in Barabanki district, set herself on fire after the BSP leader allegedly beat her up publicly and molested her several times on her way to school. The girl is in hospital with 65 per cent burns.

But, the accused has been booked only for assault and not for abetment to suicide or sexual harassment.

"I said you are older than me, don't say such things. He would harass me daily, but I never said anything," the girl said.
