Justice Sen in trouble, resignation letter signature 'fake'
Justice Sen resigned from his post to avoid the disgrace of being the first judge to face impeachment by Parliament. But, even that has been found to be fake.
"The signature in the faxed letter has been found not original. We are waiting for the hard copy of the letter to arrive and check the signature," Archana Datta, spokesperson for the President said. "Let the letter come. Any decision by the President will be only after that," she added. The faxed letter has been handed over to the Department of Law and Justice.
Justice Sen has been accused of misappropriating 33 lakhs in 1983 when he was made a receiver of the court. He did not disclose this when he was made a judge in 2003. Sen was ordered to return the money with interest in 2006 by the Calcutta High Court. In 2008, the then Chief Justice of India, K G Balakrishnan had asked him to quit, but he refused.
