BJP to meet President over Gujarat Lokayukta today

New Delhi, Sep 2: BJP leaders are scheduled to meet President Prathibha Patil on Sep 2 (today) over the appointment of Gujarat lokayukta with out consulting Chief Minister of the state, Narendra Modi.

Narendra Modi had also written to Prime Minister regarding the issue. PM had called for a meeting last evening amid controversies circling the appointment of Lokayukta by Gujarat Governor Dr Kamla Beniwal.

Manmohan Singh consulted ministers Pranab Mukherjee, AK Antony, P Chidambaram and Salman Khurshid at his residence for over an hour.

The Gujarat Lokyukta was appointed last week following which there was a great uproar and also led to the adjournment of Parliament on Tuesday.
