NSA in city to discuss PM's visit to Bangladesh

National Security Adviser Shiv Shankar Menon
Kolkata, Aug 31: National Security Adviser Shiv Shankar Menon will hold discussions with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's two-day visit to Bangladesh.

Prior to the meeting with Mamata, Menon held discussions with Chief Secretary Samar Ghosh at the state secretariat.

He is understood to have discussed the problem of trans-border crimes along the Indo-Bangla border and the Maoist issue.

The Primer Minister, who would be in Bangladesh on September six and seven, would be accompanied by chief ministers of five states including that of West Bengal.

Singh's maiden visit to Dhaka is expected to seal accords on two long-pending issues of land boundary and sharing waters of Teesta, a major river system shared by India and Bangladesh.
