Rs 3.98 crore makeover for Thami Dara

Gangtok, Aug 29: Sikkim government has undertaken a slew of measures for preserving the cultural heritage of the state and promoting tourism in the state.

In a step towards promotion of tourism in the state, Rs 3.98 crore was sanctioned for the development of Thami Dara in East Sikkim.

This amount will be used by the Tourism and Civil Aviation department in the development of Integrated Adventure Tourism Infrastructure in and around Thami Dara, official sources said.

A sum of 225 lakh would be used in the preservation and restoration of monasteries and temples, for cultural resource mapping, digitization of records and purchase of ethnographic artifacts for the upcoming state museum, the sources said.

Preservation and restoration of traditional houses and historical buildings were also being contemplated.
