Mumbai: Mixed trend in sugar prices

Mumbai, Aug 29: Sugar prices showed a mixed trend at the Vashi wholesale market here today due to uneven demand and supply transactions.

Medium sugar (M-30) moved up by Rs 5 per quintal to Rs 2,801/2,931 from its last weekend''s level of Rs 2,796/2931. However, small sugar (S-30) declined by Rs 9 per quintal to Rs 2,742/2,830 from Rs 2,751/2,830 previously.

The following are today''s closing rates for sugar (per quintal), with the previous rates given in brackets: Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 2,801/2,931 (Rs 2,796/ 2,931).

Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 2,742/2,830 (Rs 2,751/ 2,830).
