After Adarsh, land scam agony for Ashok Chavan and 15 others
The FIR was registered based on last week's directive of K S Kulkarni, the Judicial Magistrate First Class, Yavatmal on a petition by Digambar Pajgade, revealed police.
Pajgade had alleged that two plots measuring 76,172 sq feet and 59,000 sq feet originally meant for open space in the Darda Nagar Society was illegally occupied by the Jawaharlal Darda Education Society. The issue was mishandled with the knowledge of the Wadgaon Gram Panchayat officials after being influenced by the Dardas. The trust presently has a school and junior college running on the plot.
The complaint also stated that the Rajya Sabha member Vijay Darda funnelled an amount of of Rs 34.53 lakh from his MPLD fund for the construction of the school and college. Pajgade had also alleged that the society applied for permission in order to revise the approved layout plan that was already against the existing law. In a blatant act of flouting law, Chavan had instructed the Yavatmal Collector to approve the layout plan.
Police officials said that Pajgade's statements have been recorded and the 16 people were booked by the Wadgaon Road Police Station under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
