Ajay Devgn, Kajol to produce film on female foeticide

According to the census, the child sex ratio figures of 1991 Census show 946 girls per 1,000 boys. In 2011, this dropped to 833 girls per 1,000 boys. Hence, there has been a sharp decline in the population of the girl children in Maharashtra. Public health minister Suresh Shetty had approached the actors last month to sustain this sharp decline.
Describing female foeticide as the "most inhuman, uncivilised and reprehensible" practice, Shetty said, "Participation of prominent actors will boost our efforts and yield better results."
Celebrities like Marathi actors Sachin Pilgaonkar and wife Supriya have also been enlisted as brand ambassadors for the campaign.
