Complete text of PM Manmohan Singh's letter to Anna Hazare

New Delhi, Aug 28: With Anna Hazare instrumental in bringing the country togeather in its fight against corruption, the government had to finally concede to the demand for a strong Lokpal Bill. After hectic discussions and negotiations, the Parliament got togeather and passed a resolution with the Opposition and all other parties unanimously giving their astounding support for the resolution.

The Prime Mininster Manmohan Singh wrote a letter to Anna Hazare after a sense of the House was adopted by Parliament. The letter was written in Hindi, and an English translation is given below.

The letter reads -

Dear Shri Anna Hazareji,

Thank you for your letter dated August 26.
As you know, Parliament today discussed Lokpal-related issues. You will be happy to know that both Houses of Parliament have passed a resolution on the three points raised by you in the letter.

According to this resolution, Parliament has in principle agreed on the three points:
(1) citizen"s charter
(2) lower bureaucracy to be under Lokpal through an appropriate mechanism
(3) establishment of Lokayuktas in the states

Parliament has also resolved to send today"s proceedings to the department-related standing committee for its perusal while formulating its recommendations.

I hope that in view of the Parliament resolution, you will end your fast without any delay and will get back to good health. We all wish you good health.
