Namma Metro under terrorists radar; Bangalore wary?
The information was accessed by Delhi police who detained terror suspects in the capital. They were found to be carrying sketches of the metro stations and other major installations. The information was revealed to a popular newspaper by sources in the state secretariat.
There are also reports of claims made by Home Ministry officials to personnel in the BMRC office about the existence of this terror threat. They also verified the seizing of the sketched from the suspects.
An unnamed official stated, "A team of officers including National Investigation Agency visited the BMRC office on KH Road and showed them the detailed blueprints of the metro stations and the sketches of other vital installations seized from terror suspects, who had been picked up by New Delhi police. The officers asked the BMRC to immediately remove building plans of the stations, detailed route maps, pier and girder details with emergency exit and entry points for moving fire tenders, from the website of the corporation."
The source also added that there has been strict instructions to all corporations involved in handling public projects to not expose details of the projects in websites and other mediums.
The inauguration of Namma Metro is expected to see Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in attendance.
