Anna fever gets higher, temple in MP village idolising Anna

Bhopal, Aug 26: The love and respect shown by the countrymen to the Gandhian Anna Hazare for his noble cause have not only shocked the world, but also highlighted the desperation for a stronger Lokpal Bill. A small village, Chanderi in Madhya Pradesh's Sehore district, has gone a step further by establishing a make-shift temple, idolising the Gandhian.

"To begin with we have installed a photograph of Hazare on a chabutra (platform) under a tree in the village on the occasion of Janmashtmi festival," MS Mewada, who along with 4-5 others were instrumental in establishing the temple, said.

They worship the hero Anna by offering prayers and singing bhajans. "Like other temples, we are performing his 'puja' (prayers) twice daily besides singing bhajans specially penned in honour of Hazare," Mewada said.

"We also distribute 'prasad' of coconut powder mixed with sugar daily among his growing followers," he said adding "His simplicity, his home at village Ralegan Siddhi, his lifestyle, vigour and dedication for the cause by remaining single in his life has inspired us to treat him as 'God."
