AK Antony to inaugurate Asianet News complex

Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 25: The newly built headquarters complex of Malayalam television channel Asianet News will be inaugurated here by Defence Minister A K Antony on August 27.

The occasion will also be celebrated as 15 years of television journalism in Malayalam, as Asianet being the trail blazer in visual media activity in Kerala.

As part of the event, a seminar on "15 years of Indian journalism--today and tomorrow" had been organised the same day, the channel's Editor-in-Chief T N Gopakumar and Director and Business Head Frank P Thomas told a press meet here.

Mathrubhumi CMD and PTI Chairman M P Veerendrakumar, Editor-in-Chief of Outlook Vinod Metha, vetaran journalist T J S George, Editorial Director of Malayala Manorama Thomas Jacob, Media Development Foundation Chairman Shashi Kumar and media commentator and former MP Sebastian Paul will lead the media seminar.

Besides Antony, the inaugural session would be attended by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, opposition leader V S Achuthanandan, Kerala Assembly Speaker G Karthikeyan, Jnanpith laureate M T Vasudevan Nair, Asianet Chairman Rajiv Chandrasekhar,MP, and leders of various political parties and cultural personalities.

The new building in the heart of the state capital will house the studios and corporate office of the channel.
