'No bath' protest in Anna Hazare's village, Ralegan Siddhi
“Not only the residents of Ralegan Siddhi, but all the residents of the Parner taluka (sub-district) refused to take bath today," said Vijay Avti, Shiv Sena legislator
“Annaji was not given any bathing facility in Tihar Jail. So, this is our way to protest against the government's ridiculous behaviour with the Gandhian," he added. Avti is among one of Anna's supporters who is observing an all day long fast.
At least 50,000 residents from the nearby districts came out in support of Anna with steel, aluminum and plastic buckets and shouted slogans in favour of the anti-corruption meliorist.
Meanwhile, the dabbawalas in Mumbai have decided to go on a fast on Aug 19 breaking their 120 year old tradition.
“We are breaking our 120-year-old tradition by not providing tiffins tomorrow (Friday). This is the least we can do to support Annaji who has been fasting for over 50 hours in inhuman conditions," said Kiran Gavande, Nutan Dabbalwala Trust secretary.
Over 50,000 dabbalwalas will take to the streets from Churchgate station to Azad Maidan on Friday.
