Book on Padmanabha Swami temple is an instant bestseller

Thrissur, Aug 12: Sree Padmanabha Swami Kshethram, a book which talks of the history of the Sree Padmanabha Swami temple, written by Aswathy Thirunal Gwari Lakshmi Bai, a member of the royal family has become an instant hit among the masses as the book has sold its entire copies within two days after it was on sale at a book festival organised by State Institute for Languages at Shithya Academy campus, Kerala.

The book, originally written in English, also had a translation in Malayalam in the 90s. The third edition of the book was released in Jul 2011.

“The vaults of the temple were opened recently after 130 years, drew public attention," said Krishna Kumar, Assistant director, State Institute for Languages.

“We brought over hundred copies here for the book festival, and on the very second day, all the copies were sold out. The same thing happened at Thiruvanathapuram, too.

“The interesting thing was, on the fifth day of the Thiruvanathapuram festival, we brought 110 copies of the book directly from the press where the fourth edition printing was in progress. These copies were also sold out within two days." Krishnakumar said.
