Anna's Lokpal Bill becomes stronger; UP supporters to fast

Lucknow, Aug 12: Four supporters of Anna Hazare will sit on a fast unto death in Lucknow on Aug 16 to pull together support for the Lokpal Bill.

The organisation - India Against Corruption (IAC) will also create awareness programs, hold roadshows and seminar in the state demanding the removal of “anti-poor, anti-Dalit, weak" Lokpal Bill and seek a strong Lokpal.

The activist also said that they wanted the government to accept Anna's version of the Lokpal Bill.

Meanwhile, according to sources, Team Anna has been allowed to fast only for three days. Sources also revealed that necessary action will be taken by the government if required after three days.

Anna has also been allotted Jai Prakash Narain Park to conduct their fast near Ferozeshah Kotla Stadium by the police.

Anna has also pleaded to the people across the nation to switch off the lights for an hour on August 15 in a gesture to give momentum to their fast.

"On Aug 15, at 7 p.m., Anna will appeal to the nation to join the hunger strike for the sake of the country and appeal to everyone to turn out their lights between 8-9 p.m," said Arvind Kejriwal.

"We appeal that in that one hour of darkness, they should light a 'diya' (an earthen lamp) which will signify a ray of hope to remove illiteracy, hunger and corruption from this country," said Kejriwal.
