Speak Asia investors allege false propaganda, hold rally

Indore, Aug 11: While the government agencies investigating the Speak Asia scam were flooded with complaints from investors from different parts of the country, a group of investors in Indore conducted a rally demanding public support for the Singapore-based online survey website Speak Asia.

According to media reports, members of the Speak Asia Panelist Welfare Forum on Wednesday, Aug 10 held a rally from Tower Chowk to collectorate in Indore.

Later the protesters submitted a memorandum to President Prathiba Patil stating their points supporting Speak Asia. According to the supporters, a false propaganda was being done against Speak Asia. They also alleged that government have frozen the bank accounts of the firm, so that the company can not give money back to investors.

Meanwhile, Mumbai police sources reported that they are planning to block the Speak Asia website for allegedly duping more than Rs 2,000 crore from investors. Also, the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Mumbai police said that websites similar to Speak Asia that promise exorbitant investment returns to the investors are under scanner.

Speak Asia asked investors to join with Rs 11,000 and promised all the investors Rs 52,000 annually in return for conducting online surveys for the website.
