US search shares: Google dips, Yahoo gains

San Francisco, Aug 10: The latest data from the United States search market found that the global giant Google lost some of its shares to rival Yahoo.

The data revealed by online research firm ComScore found that Google's share in United States search market declined to 65.1 per cent in Jul from 65.5 per cent in Jun 2011. Meanwhile, Yahoo rose to 16.1 per cent from 15.9 per cent in the same period.

Another search engine, Microsoft's Bing did not gain any market share between Jun and Jul, remaining unchanged at 14.4 per cent.

ComScore measures users who are actively conducting a search from the search pane, not stumbling into search results through links from other content.
