Mentally challenged mother kills daughter, commits suicide

New Delhi, Aug 10: A mentally challenged mother, who was under treatment in All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), allegedly strangled her minor daughter and later committed suicide.

32-year-old Sangeeta Pokhriyal reportedly killed her daughter - Vrinda. Police officials, after the preliminary investigation, informed that the accused committed the gruesome crime when her husband was away from home.

The Husband of the deceased, Hemant reportedly works in a private company as a junior engineer.

Police also informed, "Sangeeta was sleeping with Vrinda while her elder son was sleeping with his grandfather. In the morning, the family members found the bodies."

As the sources from police informed, Sangeeta's body was found hanging from the ceiling and the daughter was found with "multiple strangulation marks around her neck".

The police rushed to the near hospital with the two bodies but they were declared dead soon after reaching the hospital, police informed.
