Amritsar, Aug 10: A hotline between Customs departments of India and Pakistan has become operational to facilitate better trade activities across the border.

"The hotline is expected to boost trade activities through the Attari/Wagah land route. It will also facilitate better understanding between the Customs departments of the two nations," Indian Customs Commissioner Ranjit Singh told PTI.

Talking about the integrated check post at Attari, Singh said that it would become operational in the last quarter of this year when Secretary Border Management of India and Pakistan would meet in Islamabad in October.

He said that ICP spread over 130 acres is being set up at Attari at an estimated cost of Rs 150 crore.
