Railways scam hits India; 2,600 employees under scanner

The railway department initiated an investigation which revealed a shocking fact that almost 87 gazetted and 2,561 non-gazetted officials are involved in several different irregularities that took place within the department.
A Railway Ministry official stated, "We carried out these checks to ensure that Railways employees do not indulge in corrupt practices. The drive will be intensified in future."
333 railways employees from Central Railways, 312 from Western Railway and 308 from Northern Railway zone have come under the scanner where else 222 employees from North Western Railway, 207 from East Central Railway, 188 from North Frontier Railway, 156 from Southern Railway and 143 from South Central Railway faced the wrath of the investigating panel.
