Tiruvarur (TN), Aug 7: DMK Chief M Karunanidhi has hit out at the "vendetta politics" played out by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa against Karuna, his family and the party itself. Speaking at a function, Karunanidhi launched a tirade against Jayalalithaa's vengeful politics and said, "I do not know how long I will live but am sure that nobody can finish off DMK and the feeling of being a Dravidian will not diminish."

This comes at a time when a couple of DMK party members were arrested and charged for land grabbing allegations. Karunanidhi lambasted Jaya's governance at a public meeting in Tiruvarur which is his home constituency and native town. The meeting was organized to condemn the arrest of DMK District Secretary Poondi K Kalaivanan.

Kalaivanan was housed at the Palayamkottai jail and Karunanidhi in an instigating speech said, "Have we not seen Palayamkottai jail? Do we fear Palayamkottai jail?" He also strongly voiced his protests on the arrest of party MLAs J Anbazhagan and former minister Veerpandi S Arumugam and said, "Nada illai Kaada (is this a state or a jungle)."

Speaking on Jayalalithaa's arrest during the DMK regime, Karunanidhi said, "Even then, she was treated with dignity." He said that Jaya's disproportionate assets case was pending in court since the last 12 years, while she acts proactively on the land grab charges against DMK members.

He also made use of the opportunity to hit at the Brahmin community and said that there were certain people in the community who were determined to finish off the Dravidian movement but reiterated that they would not succeed.
