Google honours Lucille Ball with Lucy TV doodle
The visitors of google.com on Saturday, Aug 6 are greeted with an "old-timey TV" doodle that played seven classic clips from 'I Love Lucy' - the famous American television sitcom starring Lucille Ball.
"We"re incredibly happy to celebrate her birthday with a doodle to highlight her brilliant career as an actress and businesswoman. Through the old-timey TV live on the google.com homepage all day on August 6th, you can flip the six channels for a special Lucy broadcast," doodler Jennifer Hom said in a blog post.
Lucille Ball, born on Aug 6, 1911, was an American comedienne, film, television, stage and radio actress, model, film and television executive. Lucille Ball was one of the most popular and influential stars in America during her lifetime.
Ball received thirteen Emmy Award nominations and four wins. 'I Love Lucy' was the most watched show in the United States in four of its six seasons, and was the first to end its run at the top of the Nielsen ratings.
"Lucy"s creativity, absurdity, and ever-changing facial expressions (especially when she was scarfing down candy, stomping on grapes or touting a new energy drink) have brought joy and laughter to generations of viewers," Google Doodler said.
