Sonia Gandhi moved out of ICU after surgery

New Delhi, Aug 6: Congress President Sonia Gandhi who is undergoing treatment in the US has been moved out of ICU after remaining there for 24 hours.

According to reports, Sonia was undergoing treatment for cancer in the US and was being treated for cancer for 8 months.

Media reports also said that the Congress President had undergone successful surgery at New York"s Sloan-Kettering Cancer Centre.

According to sources, her condition was serious but she was recovering well and her relatives and friends were “optimistic because she has remained otherwise fit". It also quoted those sources as saying that she had been receiving treatment for “an unspecified cancer" for at least eight months.

Sonia was also advised to go to the US because her presence here would have caused inconvenience to other patients and the hospital staff.

According to reports the Congress president is expected to be back in two or three weeks time.
