Jewellery worker loots gold, diamond worth Rs 1 crore

Bangalore, Aug 6: In a shocking news, a jewellery shop worker in Bangalore fled with gold and diamond jewels worth more than Rs 1 crore.

According to police officials, on Friday Aug 5, Sohanlal Kathri, a native of Rajasthan who was working at Aabushan Jewellers for eight months, escaped with the gold and diamonds from jewellery showroom.

Police sources said that Sohanlal was residing at Aabushan Jewellers owner Vishal Bohra's residence in Basavanagudi. He knew about owners daily schedule and selected Friday to conduct the theft as it was a busy day for Jewellers' owner.

On Friday, Sohanlal reported at the showroom and started working, Later when Vishal Bohra left for home, the culprit looted the gold and diamonds. Later, he went out of the showroom saying he wanted to go out for lunch, but did not return.

Later when Vishal Bohra returned to showroom, he found that jewels were missing. While checking CCTV footages, he found Sohanlal stealing jewels.

Police said that Sohanlal had a criminal background. According to them, Sohanlal was arrested by Mumbai police and had been imprisoned. Officials said that they had filed a complaint and formed teams to nab the thief.
