Cong's core grp meeting at PM's house without Sonia, Rahul

New Delhi, Aug 6: For the first time, the Congress party conducted a core group meeting without its president Sonia Gandhi. On Saturday, Aug 6, the top Congress leaders met at Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's residence at 7 RCR in the national capital.

The emergency meeting was called after the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report indicted Prime Minister Office (PMO) and Delhi government led by Shiela Dikshit over CWG 2010 fiasco.

Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, defence minister AK Antony, Ahmed Patel and Janardan Dwivedi were among the few leaders who attended the meeting. Sonia and her son, the general secretary of the party, Rahul Gandhi missed the meet as both of them are currently in abroad.

Sonia Gandhi who is undergoing treatment in the US has been moved out of ICU after remaining there for 24 hours. According to reports, Sonia was undergoing treatment for cancer in the US and was being treated for cancer for 8 months.

Media reports also said that the Congress President had undergone successful surgery at New York"s Sloan-Kettering Cancer Centre.
