UP Lokayukta slams corrupt minister

The Lokayukta has given a detailed account of Avadh Pal's alleged wrongdoings in a letter to the CM. He has observed that 21 veterinary hospitals were built in Avadh Pal's hometown of Etah between 2007 and 2009 soon after he took over as the minister of the department.
"Not only did he violate norms by opening so many hospitals in one district, he also awarded all the construction contracts to Chaudhary Latoori Singh Constructions, a company run by his son Ranveer Singh Yadav," the Lokayukta said.
It also added, "He is involved in land grabbing in the area as well. In addition to this, spurious and substandard medicines were purchased from several blacklisted companies by officers of the department during his tenure and he protected the culprits."
Though charged in over a dozen criminal cases, Avadh Pal reportedly enjoys a blind support from Mayawati.
