Pak Punjab bars LeT, JeM from collecting donations

Lahore, Aug 3: Authorities in Pakistan's Punjab province on Tuesday, Aug 2 barred 23 banned organisations, including the Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed, from collecting donations for their activities.

The Punjab government warned that those found providing donations or aid to the banned organisations will be charged under the Anti-Terrorism Act.

However, the government did not include the Falah-e-Insanyat, a front for the Jamaat-ud-Dawah, in the list of groups barred from collecting donations.

The organisations included in the list are LeT, JeM, Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, Sipah-e-Muhammad Pakistan, Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistan, Tehrik-e-Jaffaria Pakistan, Tehrik-e-Nifaz-e-Shariah-e-Muhammadi, Millat-e-Islamia Pakistan, Khuddam-ul-Islam, Islami Tehrik-e-Pakistan, Hizbut Tahrir, Jamiat-ul-Ansar, Jamaat-ul-Furqan, Khair-un-Naas International Trust, Islamic Students Movement of Pakistan, Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan, Jamaat-ud-Dawah, Balochistan Republican Army, Balochistan Liberation Front, Lashkar-e-Balochistan, Balochistan Liberation United Front, Balochistan Mushallah Difah Tanzeem and Sunni Tehrik.

The move coincided with the start of the Islamic holy month of Ramzan, when extremist and militant groups launch special drives to collect funds.
