Manipur: 5 killed in Imphal blast

Imphal, Aug 1: At least 5 people including a student were killed and many others injured after a powerful bomb exploded in Imphal West district, Manipur, said officials.

The bomb was thrown at a busy Sangakpham area by suspected militants.

The explosion was so powerful that it smashed windowpanes of some of the nearby houses, said officials, further adding that some injured were in critical condition.

The injured were rushed to nearby hospitals. Okram Ibobi Singh, Chief Minister along with some officials visited the spot. No group has claimed responsibility for the blast.
