MK Stalin released after detention in Tiruvarur district

MK Stalin
Chennai, Jul 30: Unofficial reports claimed that Tamil Nadu police released the DMK leader MK Stalin after detaining at Tiruvarur district on Saturday, Jul 30.

MK Stalin was arrested while protesting against the arrest of another DMK Tiruvarur District secretary Poondi Kalaivanan, who is wanted in connection with a case of forcing students to boycott schools demanding implementation of Samacheer Kalvi (Uniform System of School Education).

Police officials said that Stalin was detained for staging road-roko to block the police troop that arrived to arrest Poondi Kalaivanan.

Soon after MK Stalin's detention, DMK chief Karunanidhi alleged that Jayalalithaa-led AIADMK government was using police force to hunt DMK leaders. The former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister also said that DMK leaders are the victims of Jayalalithaa's political vendetta.

Stalin's arrest also brought protest in different parts of the state. DMK supporters conducted rallies and protests against police's action.
