DMK protest a damp squib, says Jaya

"More than 44.74 lakh of the 47.88 lakh school students in the state had attended classes yesterday against the DMK's call for boycott even as the Supreme Court is hearing a Special Leave Petition on this matter," she said in a release here last night.
The attendance in schools was 93.4 per cent, thus making DMK's protest a damp squib, she said.
The DMK had given the call for boycott of schools and colleges to press for implementation of the Uniform System of School Education, or Samacheer Kalvi, introduced by the Karunanidhi regime.
The AIADMK Government is engaged in a legal battle after it decided to defer implementation of the scheme citing its "lack of quality".
