Facebook effect: Farhan Akhtar, Paes, Pitroda join Mamata

Kolkata, Jul 27: Citing the Facebook and Internet frenzy young people of the country, Trinamool Congress (TMC) launched a new battalion comprising eight members to woo the youths in the field of politics.

The three new weapons of Trinamool are - Bollywood director-actor, Farhan Akhtar; Tennis star, Leander Paes and re-known entrepreneur and policymaker, Satyanarayan Gangaram Pitroda alias Sam Pitroda.

The first lady chief minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee has appointed the eight-member team which will monitor the youth wing to set leadership goals for the Facebook generation.

"We want more and more young educated people to join politics - Farhan is excellent in his field of work, Leander is great in sports so each of us will be sharing our experiences and our failures with the young members," said TMC MP Elect Derek O'Brein.

Abhishek Banerjee, who is Mamata Banerjee's nephew and the head of All India Trinamool Yuva Committee, said, "There are a large number of young people who want to join politics but their parents refrain them from doing it. We want to guide them and show them the way."
