Eve-teasing: Army jawan held; Are Kashmiri girls safe?
The detained army jawan allegedly passed indecent remarks to a 15-year-old girl who was passing by the army camp at Haiderbeg in Pattan area, 30 kms from Baramulla.
After the protesters blocked Srinagar-Baramulla National Highway, the police conducted an identification parade and arrested a constable - Deshmukh from Armu media camp.
Local sources informed that the agitators withdrew their protest from the National Highway soon after Deshmukh's arrest. However, here one question remains - are Kashmiri girls safe at their own place?
The army jawans, who have been put on duty to assure security to the aam-admi of the valley, have been caught in several shameful incidents like rape, kidnap and many more.
Recently, two army men allegedly abducted and raped a young woman in Kulgam district of south Kashmir. People at Damhal Hanjipora came out on the roads and held demonstrations demanding stern action against the erring personnel.
