Sacked Deoband varsity VC alleges conspiracy against him

New Delhi, Jul 24: The sacked Vice Chancellor (VC) of Darul Uloom Deoband University, Maulana Ghulam Mohammad Vastanvi said on Sunday, Jul 24 that there was a conspiracy against him.

"This is injustice and a conspiracy against me," Vastanvi said after being removed from the post of the VC by the seminary's management body - Majlis-e-Shoora.

Vastanvi said that he was sacked for opposing the incomplete report presented in the meeting by the Shoora. He also added that while detailed description of allegations against him had been mentioned in the report, it was mum on the issue of uproar by the students after his appointment and people responsible for that.

Anyhow, the 60-year-old Vastanvi said he will neither move court nor protest against the decision. He admitted that he will continue to a member of the Shoora.

The Maulana had triggered a controversy soon after his appointment as VC in January for praising Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi's rule and his development policy.
