Kanpur: Class X student raped, strangulated to death

Kanpur, Jul 22: An unidentified person allegedly raped a 17-year-old girl and strangulated her to death in Bahawalpur area in Ghatampur village in Kanpur.

Police officials said that the body of the Class-X student was found by locals on the village outskirts with a noose around her neck.

The family members alleged that she was raped and murdered, but police said that the accused attempted to rape the victim failing which he strangulated her to death.

The brutal incident occurred on Thursday, Jul 21 when the girl went to the fields near to her home. Since then she was missing and later family members found the body near the field.

The girl's father Badan Singh has filed an FIR against the unidentified person in connection with the rape and murder.
