Kashmir: Hizbul Mujahideen recruiter militants arrested

Srinagar, Jul 21: Two militants of Hizbul Mujahideen, who were on a mission to recruit youth and reorganise the outfit, were arrested from a village in north Kashmir's Baramulla district, officials said.

Police and troops of 29 Rashtriya Rifles launched an operation in Kachwa village of Pattan area in Baramulla yesterday and arrested the two ultras.

The two militants, arrested on a specific information, were identified as Ajaz Ahmad Teli alias Tahir of Pattan and Fayaz Ahmad Parray alias Saleem of Daragam village of Pattan, a police spokesman said.

One AK 47 assault rifle, 15 rounds of AK ammunition and four grenades were recovered from the orchards of Ningli Nala at the instance of the arrested ultras, he said.

During the preliminary questioning, it was found that both the militants had crossed over the Line of Control for obtaining arms training in 2001 and returned in early 2011.

They were trying to reorganise Hizbul Mujahideen outfit in Pattan area and were assigned to recruit youth to strengthened the outfit, the spokesman said.
