2008 Mumbai attack: Slain inspector's daughter gets govt job
Following the intervention of Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram, Divya Salaskar, daughter of 26/11 martyr, has been made an assistant commissioner of sales tax in Mumbai on compassionate grounds.
Chidambaram confirmed this on Thursday, Jul 21. He issued a statement saying Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan informed him about Divya's appointment.
"This morning, I was informed by the chief minister, Maharashtra that the appointment of Divya Salaskar as assistant commissioner of sales tax, Mumbai has been approved," his statement said.
The matter of Divya's appointment was hanging fire until it was brought to Chidambaram's notice during a recent TV interview where Divya was also present. The home minister had promised her that he would take up the issue with the chief minister.
