Indore: Picnic turns nightmare as wave sweeps away family

Indore, Jul 18: Three people of a family were dead and two survived when waves caused due to heavy rains swept them away in Patalpani, Indore.

While two managed to survive by swimming ashore, the other three deceased - Modita, Chhavi and Chandrashekhr, Modita's father drowned after heavy rains turned torrential and took them along while they were enjoying themselves at a waterfall.

Chavvi's body was recovered by emergency teams and locals after searching for three hours, while the team is still trying to locate the other two victims.

Heavy rains continued to lash Kokan region, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Kolhapur and Satara districts. Heavy rains in Mumbai brought down an eight-storey building and left several trees uprooted. The rains left two women dead and two seriously injured.
