Court orders inquiry into Raj Thackeray's comments

Raj Thackeray
Muzaffarpur, Jul 16: A local court today (Jul 16) ordered an inquiry into the reported comments of MNS chief Raj Thackeray blaming north Indian migrants for spurt in crime rate in Mumbai.

Chief Judicial Magistrate S P Singh asked first class judicial magistrate Sanjay Kumar Singh to hold an inquiry into the complaint seeking legal action against Thackeray for his reported utterances that allegedly hurt and insult sentiments of North Indians.

Advocate Sudhir Ojha filed the complaint seeking legal action against the MNS chief. Thackeray had on July 14 blamed ''hordes of migrants'' coming to the city for spurt in crime rate and for the increase of terror attacks in the state.

"I trust the Mumbai police but the influx is so much that there will be intelligence failure and such type of terror attacks would keep happening," Thackeray had reportedly said. The court fixed July 28 as the next date for hearing.
