Digvijay condemns lathi-charge on youth Cong activists in MP

Bhopal, Jul 15: Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh today (Jul 15) condemned the police lathi-charge on Madhya Pradesh Youth Congress President Priyavrat Singh and NSUI activists at Jabalpur on Wednesday.

In a statement, the Congress leader said that Youth Congress workers were staging a peaceful dharna to protest against alleged irregularities in the Jawaharlal Urban Renewal Mission scheme in Jabalpur.

Singh said since neither the Commissioner, nor the mayor or any other competent offical was present to receive a memorandum from the Youth Congress workers, they grew restless and police lathi-charged them.

He said that the BJP government in Madhya Pradesh must be told that treating Congress workers like this would not be tolerted.
