Mumbai blasts 2011: Maha CM announces compensation

Prithviraj Chavan
Mumbai, Jul 14: Condemning the attacks that took place in Mumbai, Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan declared a compensation for the victims of attacks.

In a press conference held here attended by the Home Minister P Chidambaram and Home Minister RR Patil, the CM said that Maharashtra government will give the injured a compensation of Rs 50,000 while the families of those killed would get Rs 5,00000.

The Chief Minister appealed and asked the people to co-operate with the government.

Meanwhile, there is tremendous public outrage against Home Minister RR Patil. Patil had assured after the 2008 Mumbai blasts that Maharashtra would be a safest place to live.

One can hardly forget the foolish comment he had made after the 2008 Mumbai blast - Bade bade shaharon mein choti choti ghatna hote hain (small incidents do take place in big cities).
