B'lore: PM to inaugurate 'Namma Metro' on Ganesha Chaturthi?

Bangalore, Jul 14: Chief Minister of Karnataka, BS Yeddyurappa expressed his wish that the Prime Minister flag off the Bangalore Metro on the eve of Ganesha Chaturthi that is scheduled on Sep 12.

Yeddyurappa who is currently in New Delhi, said that he would invite the Prime Minister formally after the talks over power projects (coal allocation) in Karnataka.

The Chief Minister's declaration has only left the public wondering if the Metro will meet its deadline this time.

The safety trials were conducted in the third week of Jun by the Railway Design and Standard Operations.

After the trail reports are submitted, the commissioner, railway safety will be approached to inspect the project. The proposed inaugural date by Yedurappa will be then decided by the Centre and the State.

Sources from the metro say that Swami Vivekananda station and MG Road are prominent because they are off the road. While Halasurum CMH, Trinity stations are surrounded by buildings and on the road, Byappanahalli is inside the terminus.

“Works on all stations are almost over. Only finishing touches need to be done. Service trials for the five trains are going on. But I am unaware about the chief minister"s statement in New Delhi," said BLY Chavan, spokesman, BMRCL.

According to another source, all metro works will be completed by Aug end.
