Pak Army commanders vow to fight terror with ''own resources''

A meeting of the Corps Commanders chaired by army chief Gen Ashfaq Parvez Kayani at General Headquarters in Rawalpindi "reiterated the resolve to fight the menace of terrorism in our own national interest using our own resources", said a military statement.
The move came a day after the US administration irked by Pakistan's expulsion of American military trainers announced it was suspending USD 800 million in military aid, including reimbursement of USD 300 million for expenses already incurred by Pakistan in the war on terror.
The army's Corps Commanders were briefed about the security situation across Pakistan and ongoing operations in the Kurram and Mohmand tribal regions, the military statement said.
"Matters of operational preparedness were also discussed," it said.
Kayani, in his opening remarks, "appreciated the conduct of ongoing operations".
Referring to the situation in Kurram tribal region, he said the aim of the operation there is to "clear the area of miscreants involved in terrorism, kidnapping, killing of locals and blocking of the road connecting lower with upper Kurram".
In Mohmand tribal region, all efforts must be made in coordination with the civil administration for the safe return of people displaced by the military operation, he said.
