Rahul Gandhi meets Kalka Mail mishap victims

Kanpur, Jul 12: On Tuesday, Jul 12 the Congress scion Rahul Gandhi travelled to Kanpur to visit the victims of the Kalka mail mishap, who are currently admitted to a hospital.

Rahul arrived at the Chakeri airport and headed to the Hailet hospital, where 64 passengers injured in the derailment are being treated. The rest of the victims are being treated in Allahabad and Fatehpur.

The death toll in Sunday's accident here went up to 67 with at least 250 people injured. The figure is feared to rise even further. The accident occurred when 14 bogies of Delhi-bound Kalka Mail from Howrah derailed near Malwa station in Fatehpur, UP on last Sunday.

"Gandhi was in the hospital for nearly an hour. He met the injured one by one and enquired about the medical treatment," said Mahesh Dixit, the Congress district president.

It is expected that Rahul might also visit the site of accident at Fatehpur district.
