Italian lace project launched in Vadodara central jail
Besides Vadodara, this project has been launched in Hyderabad and Delhi.
Speaking at the launch, FLO chairperson Puja Agrawal said, "Italian lace is a kind of embroidery, which was brought to India 30 years ago by an Italian priest Rev Fr Colombo and is mostly used during marriages, birthday parties and other cultural occasions."
Geeta Goradia, President of the Federation of Gujarat Industries, affiliated with FICCI, said, "The core objective of this project is to empower the poor women, both socially and economically, through provision of access to sustainable income generating options in respect of Italian lace Products, which are highly specialised, intricate and artistic in nature and enjoying assured and highly remunerative international markets."
Fifty Women prisoners will be trained by M/s Spoorthi, Warangal.
