PM should take responsibility for UP train mishap: CPI
"There is no collective functioning of the government. The Prime Minister alone should take responsibility," CPI National Secretary D Raja said here.
The Prime Minister should have appointed a Cabinet minister for Railways after Mamata Banerjee became West Bengal Chief Minister, he said.
The number of train accidents had increased "ever since Congress-led UPA government came to power", Raja said, adding "there must be appropriate political leadership to give directions to the Railways".
Observing that successive governments had increased the number of trains and their frequencies, the CPI leader said serious steps should be taken to improve railways infrastructure.
